Thomas, this is exactly it. That inside-out flying is what it's all about, noticing what you felt before you judge the result. Opening yourself up to all experiences as part of your own unique journey: they're just feedback so you can fly more intuitively next time. Have an incredible time in Kruševo, sounds like a great place to do that. Happy flying 🪂

What an inspiring and mind opening essay, Grant. I'm in Kruševo at the moment on some xc flying and your thoughts & ideas uttered in the essay accompany my flying and above all debriefing reassessments of the daily challenges accomplished or failed. Flying from the inside - out rather than outside- in is so much more rewarding. And "failures" are essential for progressing and learning how to fly more and more intuitively. Greatly appreciate your sharing your concepts ... keep up your inspirational work, cheers Thomas

I’m thinking about embroidering that on my pod harness. Thanks for a great article.

First time I've heard that quote, it fits perfectly and speaks well to a growth mindset. Thanks for sharing. 🙌 Where are you based and where do you do most of your flying?

Switzerland. Good flying within an hour or less from home. Conservative, slowly progressing pilot. License and SIV 4 years ago, then steady progress and then a couple years of very little summer flying due to illness / family commitments. This season finally feeling like my bump tolerance is back up and been enjoying pushing a bit. Absolute amateur compared to most of the folks here though… and that is OK.

You already know this but it's worth reiterating, the only thing that matters is your own growth and your internal experience. Others can inspire but we all have different life situations and starting points. Paragliding goes in seasons and it seems like you're approaching it in a healthy way. If there's any way I can support you let me know, I'm only a DM away.

I started in my late 40s… in my 50s now and am forever learning. Sadly wing is in for a check but hoping it’s back soon…
