Thanks Grant, great article! Luckily I'm not a very competitive person. Nevertheless I sometimes feel the "danger" you are describing too and try hard to keep me off that track. Flow is the goal!

Thanks Andy, you show great awareness here. What I find interesting is that the pull doesn't need competitiveness to take hold. Comparison, ambient culture, what other pilots are doing - it sneaks in regardless. Flow is exactly the antidote, and the good news is it's trainable.

Bertie — this is a bigger question than we can do justice to in a comment, because the answer depends a lot on where you are in your flying and enjoyment. Before we try: Giving up on paragliding, on XC, or just on the idea of ever feeling confident on your current wing?
